I had a blast in Dubai with 300 indie hackers
Bye bye, Dubai š What an impressive city! It has the malls of China. You can spend an entire day there: amusement parks, aquariums, shopping, food courts. Everything is sparkling clean. Service is top-notch. I really enjoyed how diligent people are. Waiters and taxi drivers are super committed to their work, which makes life very convenient. There are so, so many entrepreneurs. No surprise our indie hackers meetup was 2Ć bigger than the previous record (300 people came!!). And people are building really cool stuff. Dubaiās tax benefits have attracted lots of talent. Locals seem to love their government. I randomly asked people I met in the sauna or in taxis, āWhat do you think about your politics?ā and got 100% positive feedback (nā10). As a French person, I was blown away. I wouldnāt live in Dubai, though: 1. Air quality is moderate/bad most of the time. 2. Itās way too hot. Forget outdoor activities (walking, running). 3. Itās a big city, so thereās traffic, noise, and a lack of nature. 4. Iām not comfortable with the political situation in Iran. My wife and I had a blast. See you next year, Dubai š«”
